Ive landed a new job! Jackpot baby!

Posted by ScaredyDave - June 5th, 2013

My last post I made was when I was about in the middle of my unemployment phase, so I figured I would update everyone that I have landed a NEW full time job at IGT as an Online Game Artist! Ill be making cool art and translating existing art for IGT's online slot machines. Americans wont be able to see this due to Online Gambling being illegal in the US, but European viewers and such will get to enjoy wasting (or making) money off of these games Ill be working on!

If you know me, or you've looked at my resume, you'll know that this is actually the second Slot Machine company I've worked for in my life. Right out of college I worked for WMS Gaming, who you may know used to be Williams Gaming (they made pinball machines at first and then made a little game studio you used to know as Midway Games, who then were bought by Warner Bros and are now called Netherealm Studios. Williams changed their name to WMS Gaming when they got into the slot machine business after Pinball and arcades started dying off. Little history for your face.) This means I've successfully gone from Gambling to Jesus and back to Gambling again (Jesus being my 2 years at Lightside Games, a Christian Gaming company.)

I must say Im so happy to be back in the Gambling industry. Slot Machines are incredibly inventive these days, its not just "pull lever, receive/lose money" anymore. We have a game at IGT that when a few symbols line up, you get to essentially play a level of Star Fox to earn more points towards your score, thus getting more money. THATS how cool some of these games are! I love slot machines because with other types of gaming, most apparent in iOS or Facebook Social Gaming, you get a lot of clones and people just taking whats popular and redoing it again. This happens in Social Gaming a lot because its still such a new industry, its not fully regulated the way it should be yet. Slot machines have been around longer than televisions though, so now you see people getting REALLY creative on how to take such a basic core concept ("pull lever, lose/receive money") and making it more engaging to the player, and more fun for non gamblers.

So thats it, Im a happy camper again and feeling financially stable. I did A LOT to make my website and work more presentable, so if you want to see a lot of new content from me, check out my website or my Youtube.

Otherwise the new Reincarnation game is looking great! I saw Chris posted some cleaned up animation that I had made, and it was a blast to work on. Check out "Reincarnation: The Root of All Evil" when it launches on multiple platforms sometime!

Catch ya later, Newgrounds,

Congrats, I live near Reno, so I know all about IGT!

Haha yeah you got it! Im working for their San Francisco branch, but yeah, the very same IGT!

I really like the characters you made up for the infinite runner type concept, they're so cool looking and your thought process behind them was interesting to read. Congrats on the job btw

Yeah I made all those for a test for an application to a different job. They said they loved my work and would get back to me about hiring me full time... then just never got back to me haha. You'd think after having me do 2 days worth of tests they could at least tell me I didn't get the job. Regardless, its neat stuff! I had descriptions for all the levels too but they were lost in an email chain that's since been deleted, which is a shame. Thanks for checking out my stuff!

Crazy, that's quite the story!

Hooray!

Woah... It reminds me of the pachinko machines in Japan; they suffered a similar transition too.

Whoah! Slot machines! I wish I could have as successful life as yours

Congrats dave, continued success to you. You deserve it
